Living a Meaningful Life

Mom’s A Stewardess (or why there is no vacation from your vocation) is an enriching book written by my Poveda classmate, Angelica (Angel) Bautista - Viloria.

Nope, it is not a book about being a mother who is a flight stewardess as the title may suggest but enriching stories of being a steward; serving God in your own simple ways.

Angel gives snippets of wisdom of being a stewardess through her experiences as a mother, wife, daughter, and a friend. These are everyday experiences and stories that many readers can relate with even if you are not a mother.

The book is a rich source of examples that you must and can exemplify to live in God’s words. It is like a checklist to evaluate and review our lives. I must admit some chapters touched me and made me reflect on my past actions.

During the book launch, Angel stated three valuable lessons from the book:
1. Do not underestimate the power of encouragement;
2. Do not underestimate the power of the written word; and
3. Do not underestimate the power of God

Angel is a writer (in fact one of the Filipina pioneers of blog writing!) and she used negative statements which is a “no-no” in writing to impart her lessons. According to her, people tend to remember the negative statement over the positive statement. How true!

In these critical times, it is always good to be reminded how to have a happy, blessed and meaningful life.

A Short Daily Anytime Prayer by Angel Bautista-Viloria

Lord Jesus Christ,
Thank You for the gift of life.
Thank You for all Your blessings.
In all circumstances
help me to remember and to trust
that You have the best plan for me.
Guide me and direct me
that I may always be a channel
of your Blessings to others.
